Thom Browne ss13

   Thom Browne is a designer I have really grown to admire! Although, arguably sometimes more of a showman, but that's what sets him apart from all the others! His ss13 show was no different!  From the Edna Barnes Salomon Room of the New York Public Library, influenced by artist Oskar Schlemmer, his collection was set in a space age Spiro graphic ballet, each of the models entering the scene, took a look around and then were placed onto individual spinning black and white spiral discs, turned and inspected one at a time by a crew of silver beehive turbaned young men, set to the desperate whine of an air-plane's drone and then, in finale, to Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights'.

As a designer, he is clearly influenced by architecture and he has used his knowledge to structure the silhouette of his fashion to distort the body in a strange, eerie, and mutated yet still incredibly beautiful way! His spring/summer collection carried on this tradition of exaggerated shapes, elongated torsos and voluptuous curves. The colours ranged from all different shades of grey to a cast of the sweetest rainbow colours. The designs were incredibly luxurious in detail and embellishment, influenced by 1920’s aesthetic and a subtle nautical theme throughout. Stripy black and white socks are a cute accessory but the exaggerated cuffs are a common trend throughout his collection and one to perhaps keep your eyes peeled for, for the ss13 trends! Below are some of my personal favourite designs from the collection!

The structure, femininity and elegance of this dress is to die for!

I love the colour burst in this outfit! The layers of shirts and sweaters give the look a modern, preppy twist on   Geek chic!

I adore the idea of a skeleton of one outfit draped over another and the candy colours are so complimentary!

This coat is so chic and immediately reminded me of something Coco Chanel would have worn herself!

The Gothic glamour of this design has literally made my heart melt! Although, it does bring images of 'grieving widow' to mind I would stop at nothing to own this piece!

The show stopper of the collection. The idea of skirt that you walk is so quirky, so fun and so avant garde!

Horror film themed accessories.

   It’s that time of the year again, autumn has truly set in and the excitement of Halloween, mixed with a cold, bitter chill, is creeping in.  What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a horror movie marathon filled with some of the best cult classics? Or even better, how about some horror film inspired jewellery? Below are some of my personal favourite accessories inspired by the most terrifying ghouls and cult icons to ever walk amongst the living.

Silhouette necklace from Fable And Fury. I personally love these designs and they're the perfect statement piece! They have a large range including other well known icons like Vincent Price, David Bowie, Morrissey, Alfred Hitchcock as well as other designs.

Kamille Freske is a true artist at heart. If you're a fan of Victorian or Renaissance art then it's definitely worth your time checking her stuff out!

An introduction.

    I've recently started studying fashion, something that I'm really passionate about and I'm unbelievably happy about it! So, I thought it would be a good idea to start a fashion blog, if anything; it will keep me motivated to work and improve my writing skills. But what do I write about?  High fashion, beauty or do I make it a more personal blog. I spent days trying to make a decision and then it hit me! As far back as I can remember I have always had a fascination with the sombre and macabre. Whether it was the ghost stories I read as a child or the head to toe black I wore through my teen years (although I can’t say I've grown out of that ‘phase’ just yet) the more ‘alternative’ style is something I have always identified with and know a lot about.

   So, this is a blog that my 12 year old self would be proud of! It’s dedicated to all things dark and strange, horrific and gruesome with a fashionable twist! Welcome to Bela Lugosi’s closet, influenced by Dracula himself, a world filled with the most up to date Goth chic!
